Madhya Pradesh Wildlife News: By Indus Excursion

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 05, 2009 – After death of tigress Era, now it was turn of male leopard named Sheru. Sheru was captured from forests of Seoni (close to Pench National Park) and was put in Rukhad’s Enclose and later shifted to Van Vihar Zoological Park in May-2007. According to park officials, death is natural as leopard was about 17 years old although postmortem report is yet to come.

Earlier tigress named Era passed away due to ill-ness and delay in medical aid. Questions are rising on medical facilities and veterinary expertise in Van Vihar National Park. News are coming that illness of tigress Era was not handled properly and lack of expertise has been observed in treatment. According to senior veterinary doctor A. B. Srivastava tigeress may have been died due to heat-stroke as he vomited on last day but not noticed in time.

This is not a singular incident. In 15th April, 2009, tiger-cub of 11-months, called “Pancham” was bought to Van Vihar National Park from Pench National Park when he was reported injured after conflict of male tiger. Later he died during medication process.
